ISAAC (and Rebekah) – BRIDE CHOSEN

ISAAC’S BRIDE WAS CAREFULLY CHOSEN : “I want you to swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of earth, that you will not get a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I am living, but will go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac.”
THE SERVANT (A TYPE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT) IS SENT TO CHOOSE THE BRIDE FOR ISAAC AND CHRIST: “Simon has described to us how God at first showed his concern by taking from the Gentiles a people for himself.” “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” “They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will overcome them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings– and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers.”.
IT WAS IMPORTANT THAT HIS BRIDE BE OF THE SAME FAITH
“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God “
ISAAC’S BRIDE WAS BROUGHT TO HIM: “Make sure that you do not take my son back there,” Abraham said. If the woman is unwilling to come back with you, then you will be released from this oath of mine. Only do not take my son back there.” ….. So the servant took Rebekah and left. Rebekah ….. saw Isaac …..  Isaac …. married Rebekah. So she became his wife “
IT WILL BE THE SAME FOR OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST: “Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house. The king is enthralled by your beauty; honour him, for he is your lord….All glorious is the princess within…In embroidered garments she is led to the king….They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of  the king.” “For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
THE SERVANT PORTRAYED HIS MASTER TO THE PROSPECTIVE BRIDE (For Isaac  “my master” mentioned 18 times)
FOR THE BRIDE OF CHRIST: “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.” “But the Counsellor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” “When the Counsellor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.”
The prospective bride must then make a decision, as we all must do when introduced to the Lord Jesus Christ by His Holy Spirit; “what shall I do with Jesus Christ?”; we cannot ignore Him, our answer must be either “Yes” or “No”. If our answer is “Yes”; then, like the bride of Isaac, we must leave the things of this life that would hold us back and submit and follow Him.
“So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Will you go with this man?” “I will go,” she said.”
“When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!” When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.”
Thus the bride is clothed in her wedding dress and made ready to meet the bridegroom.
“All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags “ “Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of the saints.)”
When the decision is made there will be the desire to delay, but immediate action is necessary otherwise there could be a change in our desire to follow. “But her brother and her mother replied, “Let the girl remain with us ten days or so; then you may go.” But he said to them, “Do not detain me, now that the LORD has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my master.””
“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.” “Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”

Therefore, we too should be quick to obey His call to follow: “So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Will you go with this man?” “I will go,” she said.”

“Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.”
