MOSES: COMMISSION AND AUTHORIZATION

“So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh”
.
As God had called him , God was now sending him. There can be no greater commission than that which is of God. Many there are that have gone, but few have had the permission of God, and this has been evident in their service or lack of genuine service for God. “BUT”… there is always the hesitation, does God really mean ME? Can I really serve God in this capacity? I feel all alone and inadequate. “And God said, “I will be with you.” . God not only sends His servant to the field of service, He also guarantees His divine presence will accompany His servant. This is God’s assurance that although there may be difficulties and attacks by Satan, His Holy Spirit will provide protection from evil and guidance through each difficulty. Now that I am assured of God’s calling, and the confidence of His presence with me, on what or who’s authority do I go? “SUPPOSE…” How do I respond to the inevitable question? .
“God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: `I AM has sent me to you.'”
.
There can be no greater authority than that of God Himself. Therefore the servant of God must be absolutely sure that God has called and is sending, this becomes priority number one. Much time must be spent before God seeking His face in the matter to be confident that it is God’s call and not the call from someone else.

“I AM WHO I AM” is the name of God given to Moses. This is the name that would be recognized by the people of God: a name that describes His character: God “who is and ever will be”, ; such are some of the names of God as revealed to His people Israel and to us through His word. It is certain that if we are not commissioned and authorized by God, our service will be in vain!

EXCUSES: ” But Moses said to God, “Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh” “O Lord, I have never been eloquent….I am slow of speech and tongue.” . God’s servant will surely be tested with these questions for every new field of service; this is Satan’s design to stall or impede the work of God. In such cases we must rely on what God has said to us through His word. . I am simply God’s servant and nothing else, and so by the grace of God . The message presented by God’s servant must be God’s message, not words that only express the servant’s specific thoughts or attitudes. The Spirit must teach us, and this can only be accomplished by spending much valuable time in the study of God’s word.
EQUIPMENT: “Then the LORD said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.” . It is sometimes the feeling of God’s servant that the tools or information that we have are inadequate for the job to which God has called us. But again God’s word will remind us that whatever we possess that is fully dedicated to Him, He can use for His glory. . God’s servant must also recognize that the tool or talent that is most useful or valuable to us in God’s service can also be used to cause us to sin against God. Moses’ rod was used for many great and wonderful acts, but it was also used to commit a grave sin against God.
“Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank. But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honour me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”
God gives specific instructions for specific jobs. We must, therefore, seek specific guidance and instructions for each job, and never act on the assumption that God requires the same “action” for each and every job He gives to us.
